Welcome to the all different, all new Newtasty dot com, I’d had a sketchbook blog thingy for a while and never really used it so I decided to intergrate it with my portfolio to keep it all together and maybe force me to update more often.

Now unlike a lot of artists and designers my knowledge of html and php is sfa, my buddy Self Ctrl usually takes care of all that but I didn’t want to bother him (you know, it’s like if you own a van everybody who needs to move a fridge is constantly hassling you) so i’ve used Wordpress and Nyssa Brown’s  nice free (key word) Pocket-T theme because it’s clean n’ tidy and easy for a mook like me to manage and navigate. 

All good, hope it’s to everyone’s liking and maybe now my portfolio will get updated more often than bi-yearly!

Poster for Solid Soul Disciples tour of Brazil. Love Brazil. And I’m in 2 of those bands. So i will get to love it all over again for 3 weeks.

All the portfolios were broken so it forced me to finally upload some stuff in the promo & design section.
One of my favourite things to work on in the last year was a comic book and front cover illustration for Sega’s House Of The Dead: Overkill game. I collaborated with Fluid Design who provided the overall look and feel, all the design elements and even wrote and lettered the comic book! They did an amazing job, in my opinion, and you should go and check their website after you’ve had a mooch thru the stuff on Newtasty.

Really been digging all the Capsule poster artwork by fellow Birmingham boy and Outcrowder Ben Javens lately, go over to his blog and check out his art, there’s some really great work in there. While you’re there buy some stuff too! Lovely.

Holy moley, been nearly 2 months again since I updated… sheesh, how do you internet people do it? I plan on a big update to the portfolio section real soon, until then, to get myself back in the swing of things, here’s a drawing of my favourite robot M.I.L.O being all dramatic and Kirby-like with his perspective.

I’ve suffered from Photoshop and Illustrator crashes so many times I’ve often wondered why these applications don’t have any auto-save features. Sure, if you work with extremely large file sizes it can be resource- and time-intensive to be re-saving all the time, and I often flatten layers and perform any number of destructive actions that I may not want to commit to a full save. But it would be nice to have the option, y’know? I’d probably swear at my computer less if once in a blue moon, Photoshop piped up and said, “You haven’t saved in a while? You wanna do that now?”

Enter EverSave, a free app (for Macs only, I’m afraid) that does just that — saves your work in any application, on a timed schedule or at any time you switch between applications. And, just as importantly, there’s an option to have EverSave ask before each save. Yes, thank-you.

This is nice, reminds me of being a kid and copying my favourite comic book covers with felt tip pens
